Remember getting lost in a mall? šµ Who Hasn’t? I have way too many times.
In my 16 years in retail real estate, Iāve seen many malls struggle because they tried to do too much.
They are sometimes so over-engineered that they end up being more of a maze than a marketplace.
More often than not, we need to rethink this approach and go minimalist:

ā When people can find what they need quickly, theyāre more likely to return.

ā Minimalist designs highlight individual brands better and each store gets the spotlight it deserves āØ

ā When shoppers feel good, they spend more time and money. šø

ā Sustainable designs are not just good for the planet, but also for business. š
I personally find Mercato Shopping Mall, Dubai (featured in images) a great example of the above principles. I am a Raving Fan of this mall I’ve been going to for decades.
